Jaehazerys East
Bard
![Picture](/uploads/1/7/9/6/17960521/9209059.jpg?409)
Age: 24
Kin: unknown, all dead
Looks: Soft, silky black hair that reaches his shoulders and even a little past that. His skin is fair, rather odd for a wanderer. And his eyes are a startling blue, blue as the sea.
Personality: Jaehazerys is rather kind, soft spoken, and gentle hearted. He takes great care of anyone he may find being in need.
History: Jaehazerys' story begins in Valaire when he was only seven years old. His father led an army of vicious, bloodthirsty traitors against the city. The war raged for years, and when Jaehazerys was nine, his father and his men slaughtered the Quatumvrate and secured the city. Alas, his father was struck down, and in his final moments, named Jaehazerys as ruler of the city. Not even an hour after his father drew his last breath, Jaehazerys was placed on the throne and announced to all as King of Valaire. Jaehazerys became the person known as the King for a Day, even though his rule lasted nearly a week. He was mostly a puppet controlled by advisors and ruled as a figurehead, but when he stepped in, all had better obey him, or his right hand would make them obey. But a week after his ascension, a survivor of the Quatumvrate led the citizens to battle, and they quickly overthrew the palace. Jaehazerys was arrested and sent to die. He was drowned, stabbed, shot with arrows, whipped, and stoned, and somehow survived it all. His body was dug out from the rubble and marked as unknown to be buried in a mass grave, but he woke up and was taken in by the undertaker who also worked as a silversmith. He recovered and ran away before he was recognized. His life from then on is mostly unknown. He appears now as a bard named Jaehazerys East, his age and name change currently enough to leave people believing that the King for a Day is still dead.

Jay atral
Atral Family
![Picture](/uploads/1/7/9/6/17960521/4815013.jpg?449)
Age: 21
Kin: Tyr Atral (Brother), Miranda Atral (Sister), Keera Atral (Cousin), Gamine Atral (cousin)
Looks: This Atral has dark hair and odd blue eyes. It's how he got his name, Jay, from the blue birds that his mother adored when she spent time in Valaire. He's the tallest among the younger generation, though that might be because he's the oldest and therefore has had the most time to grow, and he's lean from the small meals that make up a Drifter's diet. Jay has rather sharp features with a wide chin. He looks older than he is, but that's something that often comes with being a Drifter. It's the eyes that have seen much, the body that has endured sandstorms, the mind that weighs down the shoulders with thoughts about food and places to sleep. He's twenty-one, but he could easily pass for around twenty-six in Lytane or Valaire.
Personality: Jay is serious. He's a man of the desert, of the heat and sand and fluctuating night temperatures, a man used to the hardship of finding food and water. He's serious and dutiful, but despite that his younger family members love him. He takes time to teach them how to make a spear or javelin, or how to shoot a sling to hit desert creatures that are edible. Jay is not necessarily good with kids, but he takes time out of his schedule to entertain them. His Flair allows him to comfort the children. For years some of them would crawl into his tent, onto his sleeping mat, and burrow under Jay's blanket. He would hug them and his body would go to a temperature that would allow the child or, on some nights, children, to sleep peacefully. Jay's noble-minded but realistic.
Oddities: Jay isn't particularly brilliant with knives or javelins, but he is one of the best in the family with sling shots. He has good eyes for small details and long distance items and he never misses a little desert creature when he's shooting pebbles.
Flair: His temperature is always changing with the environment. If it's burning hot outside, Jay's Flair allows his body to stay cool. If the air is cold, Jay stays warm.
History: From the beginning, going back to before Jay was born, his mother wasn't the healthiest woman. Her pregnancy with Jay was dangerous so she and the man who was her husband went to Valaire. She liked the fresh air and having plants nearby, but once Jay was born (after much pain and fear and stress) the couple returned to the desert. Jay's siblings, Tyr and Miranda, were both easier on their mother, though the healer from their family told her that there should be no more children, or else it would be at Jay's mother's expense. Jay is the oldest among the latest generation of Atral's. He's spent nearly his entire life on the sands of the Harran Desert with his family. He has hunted and scavenged and boiled water from the ocean to make it drinkable. Desert skirmishes didn't happen often, but Jay saw enough and participated in two to know how they worked. When his family's camp was attacked in the night, Jay grabbed his pack and rounded up everyone younger then him. He urged them forward to a cave he knew of, one hidden through a crevice in a rocky cliff. He saved his cousins and his brother, but in the confusion he lost Miranda. His only sister, barely eight years old, lost in the clamor and fighting. Jay is angry at himself for not taking care of her, but at the same time he knows he has to care for his other relatives. Jay can't drop everything to search desperately for a child in the desert, especially since it's practically a suicide mission going alone. And Jay would have to go alone for he is the one most used to living on the open desert and others would only slow him down. He hates himself for the decision not to go out and search everywhere for Miranda, but his obligation is to the family unit, not one member. It kills him to let her go without a fight, but it is necessary to protect what he has.

Miranda Atral
Atral Family
![Picture](/uploads/1/7/9/6/17960521/4525656.jpg?410)
Age: 8
Kin: Jay Atral (brother), Tyr Atral (brother), Keera Atral (Cousin), Gamine Atral (cousin)
Occupation: Beggar
Looks: A very plain child with ragged long hair and dirty tan skin. She is skinnier than usual children because not often is she able to find enough food to feed herself. The only redeeming feature of Miranda's looks is her soft brown eyes.
Personality: Timid and hesitant, Miranda has a personality similar to that of a mouse. She is frightened and freaked out easily, and does not take teasing well. Miranda is very trusting, though, and would do anything for a person that she considers friend. Her loyalty may be her downfall in the future, as well as a very attractive trait for those who would want to manipulate her into working for their cause.
History: Miranda wasn't always a beggar. As far as she could remember, she wasn't born one. She used to have a home, with a father, a mother, and a few siblings. Just like everyone else. Her impression of her family is very vague though, and even if she did pass by one of her relatives by chance, she probably would have not recognized them. All she remembers that there was chaos one night. There was a lot of fighting, a lot of blood. Someone calling out to her, grabbing her hand. Blacking out. And then...when she woke up, she was alone. Everyone around her was dead. She ran, and due to her young age and weak body, became a beggar to make a living.

Tyr Atral
Atral Family
Tyr Atral
Age: 15
Kin: Jey Atral (brother), Keera Atral (cousin), Gamine Atral (cousins), Miranda Atral (sister)
Drifter
Looks: Tyr is lanky, tall thin and clumsy. He's always got sand in his hair because he is continual tripping. Amore reasonable person would have cut all his dark hair off, but Tyr insists on keeping it nice and fluffy, longer than Keeras. She's always moaning about how much time he puts into his appearance, but it’s worth it, so he does it to bug her. Tyr has the same brown eyes as his siblings, and the same dark skin. He’s not weak, but he won’t be winning any strength contest. He makes up for it by being fast on his feet, and good at hiding. It’s his defense against his sisters.
Personality: Tyr is the most laid back of his siblings. He’s nowhere near as intense as little Keera, not as stoic as Jay, and not as enthusiastic as Gamine. He’s the middle ground of his family, in age and disposition. Back with his family he spent his days playing games, especially strategy ones, practicing archery and avoiding chores. He’d rather argue for an hour than do a chore that would take half that time. Arguing is much more interesting a pastime. Tyr switches between incredibly perceptive and completely obvious Most of the time when he’s oblivious it’s because he’s apathetic, or absorbed in something else. The things that Tyr finds interesting are seemingly random, and for everything else he is, or works to appear, unfazed.
Oddities: Tyr can be stealthy, a superb hunter and pickpocket, unless he falls on his face, and then he’s the worst. He’s not the best and close combat, but he’s a good shot with his bow. He has insomnia, and he’s learned to get by on little. Sleep. It makes him the perfect guard, but he always looks like he’s about to fall asleep on his feet.
History: Tyr always likes spending time with his family, debating, playing games and competing. Life wasn’t easy in the deserts, but they always survived fine, and found things to smile about. Until the raiders attacked. Tyr came closer to death than he ever had before, that night. He was out walking when they attacked and they found him easily. It was miraculous luck that when he ran, he somehow found Jay, escaping with the other children. Especially because when he fled one of the raider threw his knife and it hit him in the leg. Tyr still has the knife, and the scar. And plenty more reason for him not to be able to sleep. Tyr will do whatever he can to protect his family. To help them survive he’ll put aside all of his teenage pettiness. But he’ll also fight to be able to stay try to himself, even though everything.

Keera Atral
Atral Family
![Picture](/uploads/1/7/9/6/17960521/592251628.jpg?420)
Age: 14
Kin: Jay Atral (cousin), Tyr Atral (cousin), Miranda Atral (cousin) Gamine Atral (sister)
Looks: By an inhabitant of one of the great cities, Keera could easily be mistaken for a boy. Her dark hair is clipped short in a pixy cut to keep it out of the way and she refuses to be seen wearing any sort of skirt. It’s the ridiculous foolishness of the city folk to make their women wear dresses, she thinks, and many Drifter women keep their hair short so her appearance would not be odd when considered from the perspective of another Drifter. She has enough muscle on her bones to keep her from being slim, and she needs every bit of it to live in the harsh conditions of the desert. Her skin is copper colored and nicked here and there with scars from childhood injuries and training accident. Her eyes are not quite black but much darker than the normal shade of brown.
Personality: Keera is a tomboy. She’s stubborn and dislikes accepting aid from anyone. She’s determined to keep up with her older siblings and cousins and hates nothing more than being left behind because she’s considered too young. In some ways, Keera is mature for her age. She knows the ways of the desert, how to hunt and find shelter and water and edible plants. She knows how to take care of her little cousins and sibling and know basic first aid. She knows how to survive alone in the dessert better than many grown-up Drifters and prides herself on that fact. But she can also be immature; whiny and disobedient and irritable, getting into petty fights with her family, especially her younger sibling and cousins who she considers clingy and annoying. She’s frank and usually truthful. She prefers telling half-truths to lying outright and enjoys coming up with them and finding loopholes in rules that let her do what she wants to without technically breaking any rules, though she knows where to draw the line. She would never do anything on purpose that might endanger any of her friends or family. She regards the city folk with contempt, viewing them as soft, childish, pompous and foolish.
Oddities: Like all Drifters, Keera was taught a variety of martial arts used for hunting and self-defense. Her favorite weapons to use are the short bow and fighting knives. Two of her most prized possessions are a pair of knives that her father made for her and gave to her as a birthday gift when she turned thirteen. Even when she is not hunting or expecting to fight, she prefers to keep these knives with her at all times.
History: Keera was born and raised surrounded by her family. Grandma Atral ruled them with a kind heart even after the death of her husband. Grandma’s four children, her niece, and all their children made up Keera’s family group. She had cousins and sibling to play with, aunts and uncles to train and advise her and her parents to take care of her. Sometimes, times were hard and they went hungry, but the adults always made sure that the little ones had enough to eat. One of Keera’s baby cousins was taken one winter by a sickness that almost took Grandma Atral as well. Come spring, Grandma was back on her feet, but the family had taken quite a scare. Through the droughts and floods, storms, sickness, death, their family stayed together and survived as it always had. The family Atral are hardy folk. Some thing, however, can’t be born out. In the dead of night, a band of raiders, exiles and criminals from all across Desai, surrounded the camp of the Atral family, and attacked. The adult fought back as best they could, and the children would have too, if Jay, Keera’s older cousin, hadn’t rounded them up and made them run away from the fight. The fought their way out of the ring of their attackers, and picked off anyone who followed them, but the raiders let them go. They were after gold and food, not children. The children trekked all night and found refuge in a cave, where they have stayed since, searching for any remaining member of their family.

Gamine Atral
Atral Family
![Picture](/uploads/1/7/9/6/17960521/6937465.jpg?378)
Age: 17
Kin: Jay Atral (cousin), Tyr Atral (cousin), Miranda Atral (cousin), Keera Atral (younger sister)
Looks: Her appearance could be summed up in the definition of her name: a girl with a mischievous and boyish charm. Her young, pretty face is strong enough to look aggressive, with questioning brown eyes and a smirk that could make the most steadfast people question themselves. She likes her thick black hair enough to keep it long, and she battles the clingy sand of the desert by braiding it or tying off a ponytail in sections. Accessories like scarves and bracelets adorn her head and arms, not as jewelry, but as mementos for events long gone and well-loved memories. Hardened by her harsh environment, she can easily pass for a thief, but it's just her graceful way of moving and subtle sneaking that makes one question oneself when close to her.
Personality: Gamine is the girl who dreams of a faraway land, outside the confines of the sandy desert and her family. She stares at the stars picturing what else may lie under them, and the mysterious lands beyond the sea have always fascinated her. She is very much an outgoing person, though most of the social interactions in her life have been with her family, and while she does love them, she can't help but feel stifled in the small community. Her hobbies include telling stories, dancing by the fire, and falling in love, just because it sounds exciting. Being one of the older children, she is confident with herself and with her abilities to protect the younger ones, and she isn't afraid to injure and even kill if she has to. Strangers excite her, though with her semi-awkwardness and enthusiasm, she's more likely to scare them off than befriend them. She can come off as a little intense; society hasn't yet trained her to tone it down around those who aren't close to her.
Oddities: However sweet she may seem, Gamine still has her own arsenal of weapons, though she prefers to make hers more discreet. The pendant of a necklace could hide a serrated knife, and a bracelet's heavy stones could deal a knock-out punch if aimed correctly. She never seems to hurt herself with the dangers she hides in these articles of beauty, though she's careful not to leave them lying around for her younger, unsuspecting family to stumble upon.
History: As a child, Gamine always loved to play with her siblings and cousins; she was never the one to hide shyly in the tent, or sleep in the shade because she was too tired. With the adults, she enjoyed listening to their stories, and telling them later to the smaller children - with a tiny bit of exaggeration, of course. When her family was attacked that night, she had been terrified at first, but she knew that if she didn't fulfill her role of protecting the family, they would never be able to go out into the world and make their own stories, and she couldn't let that happen. Even now as they're trapped and separated, she keeps an optimistic attitude.
